Abstract
Red chili is one of the leading
commodities with high economic value and is widely grown by farmers in
Indonesia. One of the red chili producing areas in DIY is Kulon Progo Regency
with a production value of red chilies reaching 253,361 quintals in 2019. This
study aims to analyze the factors that influence the production of red chili on
the beach sand land in Panjatan District, Kulon Progo Regency and analyze the
levels allocative efficiency of red chili farming on beach sand land in Panjatan
District, Kulon Progo Regency. The location of the study was determined
deliberately with several stages in determining the respondents, namely the
sub-district stage, the village stage, and the hamlet stage. Respondents who
obtained as many as 80 farmers. The analytical method used is the production
function Cobb-Douglas and the analysis formula for allocative efficiency with
the SPSS application. The results showed that the production factors of red
chili farming that significantly affected the production of red chilies in coastal
sand land in Panjatan District were urea fertilizer, za fertilizer, TSP fertilizer,
fungicide, mulch and labor. The use of production factors for ZA fertilizers,
TSP fertilizers, fungicides and labor is not efficient so that additional use of
fertilizers is required. Meanwhile, the use of urea and mulch production factors
is not efficient. Efforts to allocate efficiency of production factors can be done
by increasing the use of za fertilizers, TSP fertilizers, mulch and labor. In
addition, it is necessary to reduce the use of urea and fungicides in red chili
farming in Panjatan District.
