Abstract
Therapy in stroke patients is needed to restore muscle function so that the hands can work
again. In the process of therapy, the doctor must know that knowing the patient's development is
very important as a reference for taking further treatment actions. Patient development can be seen
from the response of the patient's hand to the object being grasped so that it is unknown the exact
value of the strength of the hand held after therapy. On this basis, we need a hand-held strength
measuring instrument that can be used by patients equipped with data storage. This measuring
device uses a load cell as a pressure sensor where the system works can be done only by holding a
load cell sensor to get the force pressure produced by the patient. Data processing using the
Arduino Mega microcontroller with a larger memory capacity so that it can store patient data
displayed on the LCD screen. The testing method is done by measuring the burden and testing
directly on stroke patients. The tool used to compare the measurement results is the Electronic
Hand Dynamometer of the CAMRY brand and the scales, testing is carried out to determine the
load measurement error on the measuring instrument.
In testing on stroke patients is done by testing 3 stroke patients with 3 trials in 2 different times,
testing is done to find out whether the tool can be used by stroke patients or not. After testing, an
error of 1.89% was obtained, the scales found an average error of 1.2%. The test results have a
difference that is not too large with a tolerance limit of ± 2% so that the level of measurement error
factor is small. Whereas after testing in stroke patients found the results of measurements in all
three patients.
In the first patient with sub-acute condition, the strength of the hand grip produced was in the range
of 3.08 kg - 11.7 kg. In patients with chronic patients, found the results of the measurement of
handheld strength of 2.35 kg - 4.17 kg. In the third patient the result of measuring the strength of
the hand grip produced was 2.17 kg - 2.30 kg.
