Abstract

Traffic accidents are a severe problem in Indonesia because they will harm
the parties involved. For this reason, it is necessary to conduct a study on traffic
accidents that occur. This study aims to determine the type and number of accidents
that occur, determine the relationship between the volume road capacity ratio and
the speed, and to determine the relationship between the volume road capacity ratio
and the number of accidents that occurred on Magelang street, especially at Km 8
to Km 10. The research method is quantitative methods, which begins with primary
data collection obtained directly from the research location and secondary data
collection obtained from the Sleman District Police, including accident data from
January to June in 2020. The analysis of this study uses MKJI 1997 and assistance
from the Microsoft Office Excel application. The results showed that the accidents
that occurred were in the form of rear-end, side - side (sideways), single accidents,
and pedestrian crashes, with a predominantly rear - end of 50%. The relationship
between the ratio of road capacity volume and speed is inversely proportional to
the higher the road capacity volume ratio, the lower the rate. The relationship
between the volume of road capacity and the number of accidents that occur uses a
non-linear equation with a polynomial graph. In general, it can be concluded that
there is a strong relationship between the ratio of road capacity volume to the
number of accident.
