Abstract
The development direction of Sirampog District is coffee agro-industry. The
research objectives were to determine land characteristics, determine land
suitability classes, and identify the direction of development of Arabica coffee
plants.
The research method is observation with a study limitation of the altitude of
800-2000 masl. The sample points are determined based on land area with a ratio
1: 100 and determined by the type of land use.
The results showed that the Sirampog land characteristics were temperature
24.3 0C, rainfall 2834 mm/year, dry months 3.2, humidity 84%. Texture of sandy
loam, sandy clay loam, loamy sand, and sand, soil depth> 100 cm, little coarse
material. CEC 5 -> 16 cmol, alkaline saturation <35% -> 50%, C-organic 0.8 ->
2.0%, acidic - alkaline pH. N-total is low - medium, P2O5 is high - very high, K2O
is low - very high. Slope 15 - 30%, medium erosion hazard, no flood hazard.
Surface rock <5%, rock outcrop <5 - 15%. The actual and potential land based
on arithmatic matching is S1. Based on the results of the weight factor analysis,
actual land suitability is S3 with limiting factors were temperature, rainfall,
humidity, alkaline saturation, soil pH, and slope. However, the potential land
suitability is S3 with limiting factors were temperature, rainfall, and humidity.
Based on the results arithmatic matching analysis, Sirampog District is suitable
for Arabica coffee development. Meanwhile, according to the weight factor
analysis results, Arabica coffee can be developed by efforts of land improvement.
