Abstract
integrating culture in language has been discussed since the first decade of the 20th century. When language learners learn the target language culture, they would experience the changes in their cultural identities. wintergerst an McVeigh (2010) argued that living abroad can highly likely reinforce learners' cultural identities. Nevertheless, the researcher is more interested in examining the cultural identity changes when the learning is undertaken in learners' home country which is non-English speaking country.
This research aims at finding out perception on cultural identity changes when learning English and the extent of the changes thatlearners encounter. the research attempts to discover the changes in four cultural aspects, namely beliefs, norms, attitudes, and attribution/thoughts. Its also tries to classify the extent of the cultural identity changes into subtractive change, additive change, productive change, split change, and zero change.
