Abstract
Electric cars were first introduced by Robert Anderson from Scotland in
1832-1839, but at that time the price of fuel oil (BBM) was relatively cheap so
that the world community tended to develop a fuel-powered motorbike. Currently,
the price of fuel is getting more expensive. This condition is a concern throughout
the world, including Indonesia, one of the events that becomes a forum for student
creativity in making electric cars that are environmentally friendly and energy
efficient, namely the Indonesian Electric Car Competition (KMLI) held by the
Bandung State Polytechnic (POLBAN) which aims to provide basic knowledge,
including as a research arena so that it can be developed in conventional electric
cars. Based on these problems, the Bima Sena II car was produced.
Bima Sena II is an electric vehicle that is designed aerodynamically and
uses an electric motor to drive it. The manufacturing process is divided into
several stages, including making the frame, manufacturing the steering system,
driving system, and body. The process of making the frame in connection is using
the TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) type of welding. In the steering system
manufacturing process using the manual method. While the process of making the
body uses the hand lay up method.
The results of the manufacture of the Bima Sena II car are 220 cm long,
130 cm wide, 106.3 cm high, while the vehicle weight is 175 kg. In order to use
the tubular type with galvanized pipe material ¾ inch, the type is low carbon steel
(ST 42). The steering system uses a rack and pinion type, and the braking system
uses a hydraulic disc brake type. For body material using composite materials
with fiberglass filler and coremat lantor. The manufacturing process takes 200
days and costs Rp. Rp. 81,707,000.00.
