PERANAN PEKERJA SOSIAL DALAM PEMBINAAN ANAK BERMASALAH HUKUM DI BALAI PERLINDUNGAN DAN REHABILITASI SOSIAL REMAJA DAERAH ISTIMEWA YOGYAKARTA

This study aims to: 1) describe the role of social workers in the
implementation of youth coaching in Youth Protection and Rehabilitation
Center Special Region of Yogyakarta, 2) find out the hampering factors
met by social workers in the coaching process.
This study used a qualitative method with the research subjects
selected namely the social workers and 2 children with legal problems
(Anak Bermasalah Hukum-ABH). The data collection techniques used
were observation, interviews, and documentation. Meanwhile, the data
analysis applied was descriptive analysis.
The results of this study indicate that: 1) the social workers have
an active role in coaching children with legal problems. They serve as
parents of children who are being rehabilitated in the center, as friends,
as the children’s motivators, as the facilitators, as the mediators, and also
as the children’s companion when attending trials. 2) Children
participating in the coaching and showing the slightest progress for a
better attitude is considered as an achievement or success. 3) Children
defined as the successful ones are those who have successfully completed
the coaching period and those whose law issues have been properly
resolved. As a result, they can be returned to their parents. 4) The
children’s willingness to change for betterment is a huge supporting
factor. On the other hand, the different duration of the children’s
rehabilitation period and the lack of support from the family are the
hampering factors in the coaching process.
