Abstract

The development of the world of technology in modern times exists to fulfill the social needs
of most people; by the existence of new media, interaction gets much easier. Internet is a
communication network that creates interactions between individuals and groups using social
media, many people use the internet as an individual or group need either for business or
religious matters. Da'wah (Islamic missionary endeavor) must certainly follow the
advancement of technology, such as online recitation, which has become a means of
preaching in modern times. Online recitation has emerged several different opinions from
many people, especially from the Al-Hijrah recitation community and the Syuhada Mosque's
CDMS (Corp Da'wah Mosque) due to their literacy of the internet and also their different
generations. Therefore, the researchers investigated the Al-Hijrah recitation community and
the Syuhada Mosque CDMS (Syuhada Mosque Da'wah Corp) to find out the factors of online
recitation behavior at the Masjid Syuhada community. The type of research was field
research using a qualitative approach. The data collection techniques were carried out by
observation, interviews and documentation. The results of this study are, that the Al-Hijrah
recitation community prefer to perform on-site recitation due to their environmental habit as
well as their lack of internet literacy. The Syuhada Mosque CDMS (Syuhada Mosque Da'wah
Corp) prefer to perform online recitation since they find the recitation material easier to
follow. Moreover, online recitation lets the community to obtain wider scope of network, so
they can do the recitation within more than one source at the same time.
