Abstract
The current trends in technology has affected the education field. English Language Education Department in one of private university in Yogyakarta has been implementing technology as one of the assignment, which is making video project. This research has two main purposes, first is to reveal what steps and activities that students do in the process of making video project and second is to find out which speaking skills trained by the use of video project. This research was conducted in English Language Education Department in one of private university in Yogyakarta with six of its students as the participant. The researcher used descriptive qualitative method as the research design. Interview was employed in order to gather accurate data. There were two results achieved from the interview, which were the implementation of video projects in the process of speaking skill and the aspects of speaking skills being trained by the implementation of video projects. The findings are presented in three sections, which are pre recording, during recording, and post recording. In pre recording section, it is found that: (1) students watched reference videos, (2) students made the script, (3) students consulted the draft, and (4) students practiced the script. During the recording, it is found that: (5) students made the video. In post recording section, it is found that (6) students edited the video, (7) students submitted the video, and (8) students gave feedback to each other.
