Abstract

In the field of electroplating, there are several factors that dominate the
success of the process, including current, voltage, time. In addition, there are
factors that influence the results of electroplating, including the shape of the profile
and the surface area.
Because of the influence of the contours of the surface shape, a research
was carried out using sampling methodology with a size of 100 mm x 10 mm x
0.3mm, with a triangular, curved and square profile.
The lowest order chromium layer thickness was in the form of a square
profile, with an inner layer thickness of 42.76 µm and a thickness of the outer layer
with a value of 52.22 µm. Furthermore, on the curved profile, the thickness of the
inner layer is 64.59 µm and the thickness of the outer layer is 96.11 µm. The thickest
is the triangular profile, with an inner layer thickness of 66.49 µm and a thickness
of the outer layer with a value of 109.93 µm. The roughness value in the inner
square shape was higher with a value of 0.584 µm compared to the outside with a
value of 0.344 µm. In the curved shape, the outer side is higher with a value of
0.068 µm than the inside with a value of 0.21 µm. In the form of a triangle, the outer
side is higher with a value of 0.524 µm than the inside with a value of 0.574 µm.
