Abstract
Co gas is brown as a dangerous air pollutant for human health. This gas is
dangerous because it is colorless, tasteless, and odorless so the presence of this gas
con not be known without using any detectors, and this gas also very dangerous
because in high concentration could be caused a death. The toxicity arises from its
high unity for hemoglobin (to produce COHb), important blood component for
oxygen bonding of blood transportation system, so make body lack of oxygen.
In this final project, CO detector system made to give a response the presence of gas should be shown the concentration in ppm values and it was equipped by early information effect for healthy. This gas detector system all function at once as data acquisitions. TGS 5042 CO gas sensor, which is made by Figaro Engineering Inc., TLC3272 Signal Conditional, ATMega8 Microcontroller and LMB162 display, LED and Alarm are used to develop the hardware system. While BASCOM-AVR as simulation from basic program is used to make the data acquisitions program. The application is performed by taking air sample in the cabin and then this system will detect the gas in a real time manner. Data result of examination are shown in LCD display, while LED and Alarm as influence indicator for healthy. TGS 5042 sensor has linearly increasing of sensitivity as the increasing of CO gas concentration.
