Abstract
bstract
Chewing is a sensory and motor activity which aims to prepare the food
before swallowing. Chewing invotve the organs inside the cavity of the mouth and
-saliva,-which- changed-the-size- and- consistency-of-food. -Microorganism-colony is
a collection of similar microorganism that will grow to become like little dots on
agar medium containing food (salt-salt, serum, vitamins, blood, etc.).
This research using experimental study laboratorium method with
crossectional corelation approach, the study design with calculate number of
-mieroorganism- colonies-by "the number-of-chewing. This research-consists of 4
steps, namely: data collection, processing, discussion. and. conclusions. In this
study to measure the hypothesis and find out the relationship between number of
chewing with number of microorganism colonies. This research analyzed using
one way anova test calculations.
The caracteristic "of sample 'in “this-research are “subjects were medical
students. aged 20-21 semester 7 years. and male. gender to some 30 people, not
undergoing dental and oral diseases such as canker sores, tooth decay, do not
smoke, consume alcohol or other drugs that can inhibit the flow of saliva. Based
on analysis of the test number of chewing with number of microorganism colonies
with one way anova, indicates that the effects were statistically significant (p
0.05).
The conclusion in this research show that more often chew make fewer
the number of colonies of microorganism found on food bolus.
