Abstract
ABSTRACT
Talking about Muhammadiyah, it is like we talk about the development of
knowledge which is not a part from “criticism”. Why it is like that? Because of its Tajdid
spirit is able to “discuss” teaching and Islam value in every human life of view, il makes
Islam as “neutralizer” of moral demaged the concegunce of humans are more far from
God.
But, the holy intend (ma'ruf) itis not free from obstruction, because every its step
must contrary to denial (mun'kar). Public opinion about Muhammadiyah is social-
religious organization which purify in religion (un-tradilion), spread the culiure, and take
along an idea about advance (modern). The other way. they compare of it with Nahdhatul
Ulama (NU/Nahdhiyyin) as social- religious organization of conseryation and more
accomodative to culture and tradition.
This research, is from agenda of |Muhammadiyah Tanwir session on 2002, in Bali
with them, “Dakwah Kultural Untuk Pencerahan Bangsa”, which gave an impression that
Muhammadiyah “glancing” tradition (culture), they included and acomodation abaut
bid'ah, takhayul, and khurafat or TBC in the mission. But, what did the Muhammadiyah
mean by “Dakwah Kultura!”? So what did K. H. Ahmad Dahlan mean by suggested that,
wc have to improve culture? What problems about culturc?
As we know that, differences of Muhammadiyah-NU are furu'iyah (branch) in
worship, ijtihad and taglid. So, in social context which can be monitor that
Muhammadiyah with “modern culture” has built the school with combine general
teaching and religion, the other way NU with “traditional culture” has built the
“Pesantren” and tcaching of holy book to students. To bc axact, modern culturc and
traditional culture language is a point of departure of differenc from sociology language
Muhammadiyah-NU in efforting to influence, teach, defend Islam in Indonesian peoples
In context Pare, Kediri, East Java where is Muhammadiyah as the second social-
religious of Islam organization after NU (Nahdhiyyin), it has experinced dialectic which
is dynamic enough. In a general, it needs to observe attentively is closer from tendencies
in the tension “ritual tradition” between Muhammadiyah and NU. First, it is harden
reaction of )Nahdhiyyin to ward Muhammadiyah missionize, in the same manner as
�appear of case “dempulan” in religious on “Pesantren” and “Tarigat system” in members
of Nahdhiyyin which is intentional seen to do as a counter of religious missionize
Muhammadiyah which they accord are agressif and militan.
Second, tendencies of seculer life in certain society circle it is the conseguence of
modernization and development which is not average yet, il is like appearing the
resistencies in elit circle to ward commands of religion and moral. Finally, they inclened
to show what is often called split personalty.
In the event that, how is the modern culture which will be built or perhaps it has been
built in “dakwah kultural” Muhammadiyah in Pare, especially in Nahdhiyyin circles?
What kinds of normative situation which it needs to bring into reality and defend by
Muhammadiyah? Is it enough to bring into reality the spiritual consolidation at the
inclination to full and total comprehension and doing of good deeds that point of
departure from religion concern
