Abstract
Background : One of the environmental factor that affect the oral cavity is exposure to environmental compounds. Allegedly sulfur vapor has a major influence on the volume of gingival crevicular fluid. Deposits of sulfur can be found in the sulfur mine. Objective : Analyzing differences in worker's gingival crevicular fluid volume in the area of Sikidang crater, Dieng whose inhaling sulfur fumes directly with the control population that does not work near Crater Sikidang. Method : This study is an analitic observational with case control approach that taken during the period August - September . Group of cases taken from the workers in the crater area Sikidang, Dieng 24 people were taken, while the control group, is taken from the residents which didn't work in Sikidang crater. Data were collected with filter paper strips. Result : From the results of research comparing the gingival sulcus fluid in Dieng 24 and 24 people in Wonosobo, by comparing the results of the average volume of fluid in the gingival sulcus Sikidang workers in Dieng Crater, with the sample volume at the gingival sulcus in Limassol, obtained an average of at Dieng 0 , 21mm3 and in Wonosobo 0.05 indicates significance P> 0.05mm3 means normal data, data homogeneity test P <5% so that the analysis is independent T-test.
Conclusion : The final result found that there is an increase in worker's gingival crevicular fluids Sikidang crater, Dieng.
Key words : sulfurid acid vapour, gingival crevicular fluids volumes, Sikidang
