Abstract

Background: The aim of this study is to determine the difference surface roughness of supranano spherical filler composite resin with one step and multistep polishing procedures. Methods: This research was conducted as a true experimental laboratory. The Sampel is resin composite supranano spherical filler that filled in metal mould 4x4 mm and total samples is thirty-two (n=32). Sample is divided in two groups, one step (PoGo and Optrapol) and multistep (Sof-lex and Optidisc). Samples were incubated at 37℃ for 24 hours. Sample was assessed with a stylus profilometer surfcorder SE 1700. Data were analyzed using Independent t-test and One-way ANOVA. Result: There is significant differences in one step and multistep group (p ≤ 0,05) with multistep group better than one step. The result for the four groups showed significant difference between the Sof-lex group with PoGo and Optrapol, but not with the Optidisc group. The lowest result was found in the Sof-lex group with a surface value (0,2924 µm) and the PoGo group with the highest roughness value (1,0594µm) Conclusion: There is a significant difference in the surface roughness of supranano spherical filler composite resin polished by multistep and one step techniques. Multiple technique produced lower surface roughness value compared to one step. The Sof-lex polishing tool produces the lowest surface roughness.
