Abstract
Background: Traumatic lesions are lesions in pathological conditions that experience discontinuity in tissue expansion from the dermis to the subcutis. Wound healing is where the body's response to various injuries goes through a complex regeneration process resulting in continuous restoration of anatomy and function. Fibroblast cells in the wound healing process have a very important role. One of the herbal plants that can be used as medicine is cinnamon (Cinnamomum burmannii) because it can be used as an alternative for wound healing. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of cinnamon extract (Cinnamomum burmannii) on the number of fibroblasts on the wound healing process in the oral mucosa of diabetic rats. Methods: Experimental animals in the form of male Wistar (Rattus norvegicus) rats induced diabetes with alloxan 150 mg/kg BB, chemically injured H2O2 30% on the lower labial mucosa, then divided into 4 groups. The treatment group was given cinnamon extract gel 30%. Experimental animals in the positive control group were treated with Aloclair, the negative control group was treated with distilled water and the placebo group. Each group will be decapitated three times, namely on the 3rd, 7th, and 14th days to determine the increase in the number of fibroblast cells. Data analysis using One Way ANOVA test. Results: The average value of the highest number of fibroblasts in the cinnamon extract group was 39.28, followed by the positive control group in the form of Aloclair as much as 22.80, the negative control group in the form of distilled water as much as 20.37 and the placebo group as much as 22.08. The results of the OneWay ANOVA statistical test obtained significant results because the value of sig = 0.000 (p > 0.05) Conclusion: There is a significant difference between the treatment groups.
