Abstract
Background : Tissue engineering has 3 factors that influence the success of tissue regeneration, namely :cells, scaffolds, and signaling molecules. Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP), Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF), and propolis contain growth factor that can act as signaling molecules. Purpose : This study aimed to determine the density of collagen fibers in bone growth induced by the application of PRP, PRF, and propolis incorporation materials on synthetic coral scaffolds in non-osseus areas. Methods : The type of research used is experimental laboratory. The research samples were white rats (Sprague Dawley) which were given PRP PRF, and propolis and observed on days 14, 30, 60, and 90. The number of samples was 48 samples which were divided into 4 groups based on the time of observation. Collagen fiber density was observed using histological preparations at 4x and 10x magnification, then the density of collagen fibers was scored at 40x magnification. Data analysis using Kruskal-Wallis. Results : There was no significant differences between PRP, PRF, propolis, and control groups on days 14, 30, 60, and 90 (p>0.05). Conclusion : The incorporation of platelet rich plasma, platelet rich fibrin, and propolis in the synthetic coral scaffold affects the bone formation process and on day 14 the density of collagen fibers has begun to form and is quite clear. There was no significant increase in collagen fiber density on day 14, 30, 60 and 90
