Abstract
Type 2 diabetes mellitus is a chronic metabolic disorder disease marked by an increase in blood glucose levels due to decreased insulin production or insulin resistance or both. The prevalence of type 2 DM increased to 3.1%in 2018 based on Riskesdas. Type 2 DM is still not curable so that efforts can be made by controlling using the evaluation of HbA1c levels. Stress is a condition that is very susceptible to occur in people with type 2 diabetes. This diabetes distress will increase the production of the hormone cortisol in the body. The cross-sectional study was conducted at PKU Muhammadiyah Gamping Hospital with 41 subjects. 22 men (53.7%) and 19 women (46.3%). Correlation analysis using Spearman Test obtained HbA1c and cortisol showed no correlation (p=0.076; r=0.636).
