Abstract

Political education is an important component in building a critical mindset for the younger generation. With different political backgrounds and the swift currents of globalization, the younger generation is increasingly apathetic towards politics. One element that has the obligation to provide political education is a community organization affiliated with a political party. This is in line with the main tasks and functions of the community organization itself. One of these community organizations is Hamka Darwis Sleman. As a form of realization, Hamka Darwis Sleman organizes political education for beginners in the 2019 presidential election. Political education is carried out by hamka dervishes by maximizing their role. In addition, Hamka Darwis Sleman carries out formal and non-formal political education. This type of research is descriptive qualitative. The methods used are interviews and documentation. Data obtained from the daily management of Hamka Darwis Sleman as functionaries and members of Hamka Darwis Sleman. The aim of this research is to find out whether there is a role for Hamka Darwis in the implementation of political education for novice voters and the effectiveness of this political education in Sleman Regency. This study resulted in the findings of political education for novice voters in the 2019 presidential election by Hamka Darwis Sleman measured by 2 indicators, namely, conditioning and strengthening
