Abstract
Compliance is one of the most significant aspects that must be possessed by type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (DM) patients so that it can minimize morbidity and mortality. Still, the percentage of overall treatment Compliance in type 2 DM patients is less than optimal for several reasons. Based on the World Health Organization (WHO), type 2 DM is the primary cause of 1.6 million deaths. In Indonesia, type 2 DM patients increase every year, according to Riskesdas 2018 increasing to 2%. This study used a cross-sectional design, with the research subject of type 2 DM patients at PKU Muhammadiyah Gamping Hospital, Yogyakarta. Questionnaires were used to determine the relationship between spirituality and compliance with type 2 DM patients. The data obtained were analyzed using Somer's D test analysis. The results revealed that the subjects who had spirituality in the sorrow category was 9 people, and the nirvana category was 48 people. Subjects with very low compliance were nine people, and 31 people had very high compliance. In statistical analysis, the result was p = 0.035 (p < 0.05). This study concludes that there is relationship between spirituality and compliance of type 2 DM patients at PKU Muhammadiyah Gamping Hospital, Yogyakarta.
