Abstract
Contact lenses have been popular in recent years due to their widespread use as a substitute for glasses and even for cosmetic purposes. Keratitis is a condition that is frequently linked to the wearing of contact lenses. Despite the benefits of contact lenses over glasses, lenses do carry the risk of significant problems, one of which is keratitis. As a result, this research aimed to determine the effect of continuous-wear of contact lenses on keratitis symptoms. This study employed an analytic observational research with crosssectional design. The participants in this study were members of the general public aged 18 to 25 who have been wearing contact lenses for more than a year, with a total of 43 people meeting the inclusion and exclusion criteria. In this study, a nominal scale questionnaire (google form) was used as the instrument. A simple linear regression test was used to test the data. The results showed that the majority of the respondents were female, and the age range was 21 years old. Mostly, the subjects wear soft-lens and knows the complications related to the use of contact lenses. In statistical analysis, the result was p = 0.025 (p < 0.05). The study concluded that there is an effect of continuous-wear of contact lenses on keratitis symptoms, with a significance value of 0.025 (p <0.05).
