JOKO WIDODO’S INTEREST ON THE REGIONAL COMPREHENSIVE ECONOMIC PARTNERSHIP AGREEMENT IN 2019-2021

This study aims to find out about the considerations that President Joko Widodo wants to get through the RCEP agreement. In this study, the researcher implemented qualitative research and researched various sources to support this research such as books, journals, news, websites, as well as other electronic data that can support the research. This study used rational choice theory to determine Indonesia's considerations of signing the RCEP agreement, by mentioning the advantages and disadvantages that will receive by Indonesia. These advantages, first, the Indonesian economy has the opportunity to survive during the pandemic. Second, business actors can take advantage of digital trade in the region. Third, this agreement can strengthen ASEAN's centrality, and also, with this agreement, Southeast Asia can overcome the adverse effects of the trade war between China and the US. The disadvantage that Indonesia will receive is Indonesia will increasingly dependent on China. The findings show that Joko Widodo's consideration is to maintain the RCEP agreement because it is more profitable than withdrawing from this agreement
