Abstract
Improving speaking skills in English can be formed by implementing habits that are related to English language learning. The purpose of this research to discover habits that contribute to the enhancement of English-speaking skills as experienced by the English Language Education Department students and to explore the strategy that contributed to the improvement of their Englishspeaking skills based on habits done by students. This research employed a descriptive qualitative as the research design. The participant of this research are 3 students from English Language Education Department student at a private university in Yogyakarta used interviews. The findings for the first research question was habits contribute to the enhancement of English-speaking skills as experienced by the students. The first research question was related to habits contribute to the enhancement of English-speaking skills as experienced by the students. The researcher found several habits that gave significant impact on his speaking skills improvement. Those habits were singing to English songs, playing online games, reading poetry, and having self-talk. The second research question is how the strategy contribute to the enhancement of English-speaking skills based on habits done by the students. Those strategies were doing karaoke, repeating the song, having small talk, read poetry aloud, and doing repetition
