Abstract
Learning activities have shifted from face-to-face to online learning models as a response of physical distancing policy to prevent the transmission of the COVID-19 virus. Concerns about the quality of online learning, which has a direct impact on students' satisfaction on online learning and their academic achievement, must be considered. Therefore, the aims of this research are investigating the level of students’ satisfaction on synchronous and asynchronous online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic, finding out the students’ academic achievement, and analyzing the correlation between both variables. A quantitative method was employed with a correlational research design. This research was undertaken among 132 students at a private university in Yogyakarta batch 2019 chosen using a convenience sampling technique. A questionnaire consisting of 20 items was distributed online to the respondents through Google Form. The students’ GPA was also used as the second research instrument. The result showed that the mean score of students’ satisfaction was 3.68 and categorized as “satisfied”. On the other hand, the students’ academic achievement was “good” with the mean score of 3.38. While the Kendall’s Tau correlation value (τ-value) of this study was 0.023 and the significance value was 0.704 (ρ = 0.704>0.05). It implies that the alternative hypothesis is rejected. Thus, the study showed that there was no significant correlation between college students’ satisfaction on online learning and their academic achievement.
