Abstract
Speaking skill is one productive skills that should be teach by teachers in teaching English speaking skills to young learners. In teaching English speaking skills, there are obstacles and strategies faced by the teachers to teach English speaking skills to young learners at private elementary schools. This research aimed to investigating the teachers obstacles and strategies in teaching English speaking skills to young learners. This approach applied qualitative approach as research design. This setting where this research was conducted at Private Elementary Schools in Yogyakarta. There are 3 participants taken from teachers. The findings shows that there are 3 obstacles including difficulty to pronounce English words, difficulty in making the young learners to keep paying attention in learning, and the difficulty to encourage self-confidence of young learners. Another findings of this research also shows that there are 3 strategies including creating interesting speaking learning through drama or roleplay, improving young learners to communicate by imitating to teacher, and creativity teachers in learning activities.
