Abstract

Syria has become one of the countries in the world's spotlight for the large number of victims who fell in the conflict that occurred in that country. This happened because of the dissatisfaction of the Syrian people against the government of President Bashar al Assad who inherited the rule of his father Hafez al Assad who had been in power for three decades since 2000 in Syria. The research with the title "Russia's Interests in Foreign Policy in the Military Sector in Syria" will discuss Russia's involvement in the Syrian conflict from 2011 to 2016, where Russia shows its support at the United Nations in fighting the rebellion in Syria, while Russia's actions have received criticism from many parties, especially from the West. This indicates Russia's national interest in Syria. Russia is trying to maintain its military bases in Syria. There are two Russian military bases located in Syria, namely the port of Tartarus and the Hmeimim air force base. The two military bases are very important for both Russia and Syria. From the Russian side, the military base is very useful to be able to develop and market its military technology, in terms of marketing, especially in the Middle East continent, where there are a lot of conflicts. In this thesis, we discuss more deeply about Russia's Interests in Foreign Policy in the Military Field from 2011 to 2016 in the Syrian conflict.
