Abstract
Background: Nanohybrid composite resins have hydrophilic properties and easily absorb liquids so that they can cause discoloration in composite resin fillings. Coffee contains ingredients that can cause external discoloration of the composite resin. Methods: This study used a laboratory experimental method with wilcoxon test design. The samples contain 27 pieces which were printed in the form of a cube measuring 5mm on each side. All samples were immersed in artificial saliva for 24 hours and then their initial values were measured using a spectrophotometer. All of the samples then divided into 3 groups A, B and C which were immersed in different solutions, group A was immersed in black coffee, group B was immersed in Tulungagung ijo coffee, and group C was still immersed in artificial saliva. The three groups of samples were immersed for 3 days and then tested for postimmersion values using a spectrophotometer. Results: The results of the Wilcoxon test in groups A and B showed the same p value = 0.008, which means that there was a significant difference in groups A and B. While in group C, the p value = 0.594, which means that there was no significant difference on the pretest and posttest. Conclusion: There is a significant effect on coffee immersion on the color change of the composite resin
