MOTIVASI TIONGKOK UNTUK TETAP MELANJUTKAN PEMBANGUNAN BENDUNGAN HYDROPOWER DI SUNGAI LANCANG (LEMBAH MEKONG ATAS)

This paper explains the reasons why China is continuing the development of hydropower dam on the Lancang River (Upper Mekong Basin). China's hydropower development in the Lancang river has proven to be one of the factors that has negative impact on river ecosystems and people's lives in the Mekong river (Lower Mekong Basin). However, China continues to develop hydropower and even increases the number. By using securitization theory and the concept of energy security, this paper finds that China's motivation to continue building hydropower dams is based on the energy security conditions and threats that China is currently facing and the development of renewable energy is the solution to these problems.
