Abstract

This study aims to determine: (1) study habits, (2) study habits factors. (3) the ability of Kanji N4 (4) the influence of learning habits of Kanji N4 on the ability of Kanji N4 of PBJ UMY Class II students for the 2020-2021 academic year. This study uses a quantitative descriptive method. The variables used in this study are study habits (X1) , study habits factor (X2), and the ability of kanji N4 (Y). The research design used a survey. The research subjects were PBJ UMY Level II students for the 2020-2021 academic year, totaling 42 students. Source of data comes from primary data. The method used in this study uses multiple linear regression with SPSS 26 application. The results showed: (1) learning habits of Kanji N4, factors of study habits and ability of Kanji N4. The results showed that 59.5% of respondents had never studied Japanese before entering the PBJ UMY study program, 76.2% of respondents currently have and are studying Kanji N5 and N4. As many as 88.1% of respondents do not take courses, both regular and private Japanese language outside the campus or Japanese language institutions, and 76.2% of respondents do not often learn Kanji N4 independently outside the classroom. Respondents who learned Kanji N4 less than 2 feet in 1 day were 66.7%, 33.3% of respondents learned Kanji N4 using books and applications. 19% of respondents had 9 correct answers on the Kanji N4 ability test. Based on the results of data analysis obtained a coefficient of determination of 28.8%. (2) internal and external factors have a small effect of 8.2%. (3) it can be seen that 19% of respondents have a total score of 9, meaning that out of 28 questions on the Kanji N4 ability test, only 9 respondents have the correct answer (4) Partially, study habits have a significant effect on the ability of Kanji N4 students of PBJ UMY Study Program Level II the 2020-2021 school year. Meanwhile, study habits did not significantly affect the ability of Kanji N4 students of PBJ UMY Study Program Level II for the 2020-2021 academic year. Study habits have a stronger influence on the ability of Kanji N4 compared to study habits, as evidenced by the regression coefficient value of study habits of 36.1%.
