Abstract

Talking about humanitarian crises, terror or extremist groups and unstable governments are interrelated. the fragility of the government in the midst of a country's crisis makes interest groups take advantage of the situation to fill the gap. As a result, the basic needs of the population in the midst of a crisis accompanied by political instability are not being met and worsen the security and welfare conditions of the population itself. This study seeks to comprehend how the impact of the involvement of al-Shabaab extremist group in the humanitarian crisis in Somalia in 2017. This type of research is used a qualitative method, which are used to generate knowledge through discovery and comprehension. A literature study was used to collect the data. This study proves that the involvement of the alShabaab group in Somalia had an impact on the humanitarian crisis in Somalia in 2017 marked by the existence of extensive violence and loss of life which also resulted in the displacement of the population to widespread damage to society and the economy, as well as the existence of barriers or prevention of humanitarian assistance to the risk of high security for humanitarian workers in some areas.
