PENANGGULANGAN TINDAK PIDANA CYBERBULLYING OLEH POLDA DIY

The rapid development in internet technology has given rise to various forms of cybercrime, one of which is cyberbullying. Cyberbullying is easier to do because the perpetrator does not deal directly with the target or victim. The impact on victims such as symptoms of depression to suicide. This phenomenon should be prevented and overcome, considering the impact is so large, cyberbullying should be the attention of policy makers. This undergraduate thesis describes the efforts to overcome the crime of cyberbullying in the jurisdiction of the Yogyakarta Regional Police and the obstacles faced by the DIY Police in the effort to overcome the crime of cyberbullying. The research method used is empirical juridical law research. Data was collected through interviews and literature study, and data analysis was carried out descriptively-qualitatively. The results showed that the Yogyakarta Regional Police used both pre-emptive and repressive efforts in tackling the crime of cyberbullying. Pre-emptive efforts are carried out by conducting socialization regarding the norms that apply in society, especially regarding the norms of decency. Preventive efforts through social media channels such as Instagram, Facebook and Twitter belonging to the DIY Regional Police. Meanwhile, repressive efforts emphasize restorative justice. The obstacle faced by the Yogyakarta Regional Police in efforts to overcome cyberbullying is the absence of regulations that specifically regulate cyberbullying. In this regard, the handling of cyberbullying refers to general provisions that have multiple interpretations.
