Abstract

Fuel is a very important energy requirement in living life. Indonesia's dependence on the use of fossil energy causes reserves of petroleum energy sources to decrease. These abundant natural resources can be utilized as potential energy sources so that they can answer these problems. Co-Pyrolysis is one of the appropriate methods for processing palm oil waste and plastic waste. This is because the co-pyrolysis process can make palm oil waste and plastic waste environmentally friendly and can be processed into alternative renewable energy. The purpose of this study was to determine the pyrolysis kinetics of a mixture of biomass (fiber) and PET using a microwave with a power of 450 Watt which includes heating rate, mass loss rate and activation energy. Research using the pyrolysis method from a mixture of palm fiber biomass waste and PET plastic waste has been carried out with a power of 450 watts. The composition of the mixing of the two types of waste varied from 100%, 50%, and 0% by using coconut shell charcoal as an absorber to increase the level of microwave absorption. Retrieval of temperature and mass data obtained from the recording per second using a data logger and hyper terminal. Based on the results and discussion of the research, it can be concluded that fixed carbon has an effect on the co-pyrolysis process using a microwave oven which has an impact on the heating rate value, the mass loss rate decreases and the activation energy value increases. The heating rate value is 0.322897 C/second to 0.17277 C/second and the mass loss rate has a value of 0.005954 g/second to 0.001494 g/second. At 100% shell variation, the total EA value is 16.4301 kJ/mol to 71.4787 kJ/mol.
