Abstract
Background: Scabies is often associated with disease in dormitories. There are still differences in research results regarding whether there is a relationship between knowledge and the incidence of scabies. From the results of pre-research observations and interviews, it was found that scabies is often experienced by PAY Putra Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta foster children. This study aims to determine whether there is a relationship between knowledge about scabies and the incidence of scabies in PAY Putra Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta foster children. Methods: This research is a descriptive analytic study with a crosssectional approach. Respondents are foster children of PAY Putra Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta taken by total population sampling. Data were taken using a scabies diagnosis & knowledge assessment questionnaire. Results: Respondents were 62 foster children, all of whom were boys aged between 11-18 years old. There are 38 (61%) respondents had scabies during 2021 and 61 (98.4%) respondents have a low level of basic knowledge of scabies. Bivariate analysis using Fisher's exact test showed that there was no significant relationship between the level of knowledge of scabies and the incidence of scabies (p value = 0.145). Conclusion: There is no significant relationship between the level of knowledge and the incidence of scabies in respondents.
