Abstract

Background: Hygiene and sanitation can be done in various ways, such as washing hands after doing activities, cutting nails, bathing, changing clothes, not using shared towels, and changing bed sheets regularly. These should be maintained to prevent skin diseases. The prevalence of Tinea Cruris in Indonesia is ranked in second position after Pityriasis Versicolor with 52% cases. Method(s): This research use cross-sectional design to find out the relationship between hygiene sanitation and the incidence of Tinea Cruris. This research has been done in July 2021. The results from questionnaires were analyzed by univariat and bivariat test and continued to be analyzed using Chi-Square statistic test. Result(s): The results from 129 male students show significant relationship between hygiene and the incidence of Tinea Cruris with p-value (0,000) while the relationship between sanitation and the incidence of Tinea cruris is not significant with p-value (0,053). Conclusion(s): This research shows that someone with poor personal hygiene has higher risk of Tinea Cruris fungal infection among male students in Riyadlus Sholihin Islamic Boarding School, Ketapang, Probolinggo.
