Abstract
BACKGROUND: Corona virus disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak which first appeared in Wuhan, China, has spread to all over the world from the end of December 2019, has caught the world’s attention (Zhu N et al, 2020). World Health Organization (WHO) declared COVID-19 as pandemic in March, 2020. Health workers are one of the most affected in this pandemic situation because they have to be at the frontline to handle the pandemic and they are susceptible to viral exposure. These caused attention to health workers’ mental health problem. Health workers have higher risk to experience emotional mental disorder which can affect their performance in handling pandemic in healthcare facilities. Factors associated with the occurence of mental emotional disorder among health workers are demographic factors such as age, marital status, gender, and occupation. AIMS: This research aims to analyze the relationship between demographic characteristics such as age, gender, marital status, and occupation with emotional mental disorder among health workers in Puskesmas Jetis 1 during Covid-19 pandemic. METHODS: This research is analytical quantitative research with cross-sectional method. Respondents of this research are health workers in Puskesmas Jetis 1, Bantul, DIY who are willingly to become respondent in this research and complete the questionnaire. Respondents choosen by purposive sampling method. Emotional mental disorder are measured using Self Reporting Questionnaire (SRQ) which has xi been validated. Data analysis using chi square and Spearman test. The number of respondents is 42 persons. RESULTS: There are 19% respondents who experience emotional mental disorder. Hypothesis test shows no significant relationship between mental emotional disorder and demographics variable with p score >0,05, such as age (p=0,497), gender (p=0,572), marital status (p=1,000), and occupation (p=0,643). There are several previous researches about relationship between demographic characteristics and mental emotional disorder, but those researches never been done in Puskesmas Jetis 1, Bantul, DIY.
