Abstract

Internet-based health literacy in Indonesia is currently often accessed by the public to meet information needs in the health sector. Internet-based health literacy is part of e-health as information and communication technology in the health sector. One of the groups of people who use the internet network massively are students. Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) has students from various regions, races, ethnicities and can be grouped into health and non-health students. This can potentially lead to differences in the pattern of using e-health as health literacy. This study was aimed at looking at the pattern of using internetbased health literacy and the differences in the pattern of using internet-based health literacy in health and non-health students at UMY. The study used a descriptive observational design through a cross sectional approach. The research data collection was carried out in August 2021. The respondents in this study were 440 UMY students obtained through cluster sampling, namely 220 health students and 220 non-health students. The research data was obtained using a questionnaire which was analyzed by descriptive statistical methods and the analysis of differences using the Mann Whitney test method. The results showed that respondents mostly used the google search engine (100%), while the websites that were widely used in seeking health information were www.alodokter.com (67.72%), www.halodokter.com (80%) and www. detikhealth.com (30.68%). The applications that are widely used are halodoc (85%), allodokter (68.18%) and klikdokter (5%). Information that is often sought is about disease (64.77%). As many as 87.05% of respondents use e-health as health literacy for themselves and 97.06% of respondents think that the use of e-health as health literacy is beneficial because it is considered practical and efficient. The results of the comparison showed that there were significant differences in the pattern of seeking information about medicines, supplements, and diseases in health students compared to non-health students (p<0.05).
