Abstract

This study aims to determine (1) planning of taḥfiẓ (memorizing) Al-Qur’an learning in SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Gamping, (2) implementation of taḥfiẓ AlQur’an learning in SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Gamping, and (3) supporting and inhibiting factors in the implementation of taḥfiẓ Al-Qur’an learning at SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Gamping. The study used a descriptive qualitative approach with the type of field research. The subjects of this research are the principal, taḥfiẓ advisory teachers, and students. Data collection techniques used are observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis techniques used are data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and data conclusion. The results show that: (1) learning planning consists of the objectives of taḥfiẓ AlQur’an learning, namely as featured program and branding. In addition, to give birth to children who are able to read the Qur’an properly and correctly, students can read the Qur’an in tarteel (slow and clear), students have memorization with targets, and students have the soul of the Qur’an. SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Gamping also prepares and looks for certified taḥfiẓ tutor, and a selection of students is held to enrol in the taḥfiẓ class with a reading test of the Qur’an. In planning the taḥfiẓ AlQur’an learning at SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Gamping following the system from the Ummi Foundation, (2) taḥfiẓ Al-Qur’an learning is carried out on Monday to Friday for 1 hour per day using the Ummi method. The taḥfiẓ program class is divided into 2 groups of 10-15 students. The target of memorization is 2 juz (chapter in the AlQur’an) in 3 years with surah (chapter) target according to the Ummi method of the Al-Qur’an teacher certification module. The stages of learning taḥfiẓ using the Ummi method are opening, apperception, concept planting, concept understanding, training/skills, evaluation, and closing. The implementation of taḥfiẓ learning during the pandemic was carried out online and offline, (3) The supporting factors for taḥfiẓ Al-Qur’an learning at SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Gamping were the existence of a coordinator and quality assurance from the Ummi Foundation, inviting taḥfiẓ teachers from the Ummi Foundation, and the adequate infrastructure provided by the Ummi Foundation supports the implementation of taḥfiẓ learning. The inhibiting factor for taḥfiẓ learning is the changing learning system and decreasing students’ learning motivation
