Abstract
Dengue Haemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is an infectious disease caused by dengue virus infection through mosquito bites. This disease is one of the diseases with a relatively high prevalence in children in Indonesia with an incidence rate of 42.72% annually. Pediatric patients must receive specific treatment according to their age stage, so special attention is needed to prevent medication errors and ensure rationality of therapy. The purpose of this study was to determine the pattern of treatment and rationale for the treatment of Dengue Haemorrhagic Fever (DHF) in pediatric patients at the Inpatient Installation of PKU Muhammadiyah Bantul Hospital in 2020. This study was an observational descriptive study using a cross sectional design approach with a retrospective data collection method. The sample used in this study were 131 medical records of pediatric patients diagnosed with DHF at the Inpatient Installation of PKU Muhammadiyah Bantul Hospital in 2020. Analysis of the rationale for treatment therapy using the Guidelines for Diagnosis and Management of Dengue Virus Infection in Children, Indonesian Pediatrician Association 2014, Guidelines for Prevention and Treatment Control of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever, Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia 2017, and Handbook for Clinical Management of Dengue World Health Organization 2012. The results showed the rationality of using Dengue Haemorrhagic Fever (DHF) drugs in pediatric patients at the PKU Muhammadiyah Bantul Inpatient Installation based on the Right Indication (97%), Right Drug (100%), Right Patient (100%), Right Dose (95%), Right Time Interval (100%), Right Time of Administration (96%) and Alert for Side Effects (100%). Overall there are as many as 90% of DHF patients in children who meet the rationale of drug therapy.
