PERAN KEPALA MADRASAH DALAM MENGATASI PROBLEMATIKA IT PARA GURU

This research aims at 1) Identifying the issue of IT experienced by teachers at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 1 Bantul and Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 2 Bantul. 2) Gathering information on the IT literacy of teachers of Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 1 Bantul and Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 2 Bantul. 3) Identifying the role of a leader (the principal of Madrasah) in dealing with the issue and the encouragement of IT literacy among educators. This research used a qualitative approach with two samples of Madrasah’s principals i.e. Khoiriyatun, S.Pd., M.Sc the principal of Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 1 Bantul, and Drs. H. Ulul Ajib, M. Pd the Principal of Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 2 Bantul, and 20 teachers consisting of 10 teachers from MAN 1 Bantul and 10 teachers from MAN 2 Bantul. Data were gathered through questionnaires and interviews. The data were then analyzed descriptively. The results of this research showed that the issues related to IT at MAN 1 Bantul and MAN 2 Bantul were: 1) the low level of knowledge on the features available on the used learning media platform and the teachers’ low literacy on IT which resulted in the incompetency of optimizing the features of the learning medium. 2) Only some of all of the teachers had the knowledge of the name and the features of the learning medium that was supposedly used during the teaching-learning process. Further, only some of all of the teachers were capable of accessing the learning application. 3) The role of the principal from both MAN was to act as a manager responsible for analyzing and conceptualizing the solution to the issue. The Madrasah’s principal, as becoming the manager, designed a program as referring to the components of the issue. During the program implementation, the principal acted as mediator, diplomat, and politician to ensure the well-running of the program.
