Abstract
Background: In most tertiary institutions as well as public and private institution.: Indonesia, at the moment of the admission process there is one of the conditions in the form eff students being required to take one of the test stages in the form of taking a test called the academic potential test. This academic potential test illustrates the ability of prospective students to think critically and can predict the success of students later during lectures. Objective: This study aims to find out how the relationship between academic potential test scores and MCQ scores is as a predictor of the outcomes of new students in the Bachelor Degree of Medicine Program Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Universita, Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta. Research Methods: This study was an observational study with a cross sectional study design. This research was conducted in the Bachelor of Medicine study program at the Faculty Medicine and Health Sciences, Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta. Data collection was carried out in January 2019 with a sample of 98 students by taking the results of the academic potential test results and the results of the MCQ block one to four. Results: Correlation test was performed on 4 sub-tests namely verbal, numerical, spatial, and total TPA with MCQ values. Correlation test between verbal sub-test with MCQ value .siic,.;s a significance value of 0.998 (p> 0.05) which means that there is no correlation between these two variables. Correlation test between numeric sub-tests with MCQ values shows a significance value of 0.006 (p <0.05) with a positive value on the Pearson correlation, which means the relationship on these two variables is a positive correlation, which means the higher the numerical value of the landfill, the higher the MCQ value obtained. Correlation test between spatial sub-test with MCQ value shows a significance value of 0.046 (p <0.05) with a negative value on the Pearson correlation which means the relationship between these two variables is a negative correlation which means the lower the spatial value of the landfill, the higher the MCQ value obtained. Correlation test between the total value of the TPA with the MCQ value shows a significance value of 0.538 (p> 0.05) which means that there is no correlation between these two variables. Conclusion: There is no correlation between verbal sub-test value and MCQ value, there is a positive correlation between numeric sub-test value and MCQ value, there is a negative correlation between spatial sub-test value and MCQ value and there is no correlation between total TPA value and MCQ value. Kovivards: Academic Potential Test, Verbal, Numeric, Spatial, MCQ
