Abstract

This research aims to discuss the disaster narration during the PPKM period on the Bantul Regency’s social media. The data analysis of this research is using the qualitative method from interview and social media data analyzed by the Computer Assisted Qualitative Data Analysis (CAQDS). The data were showcased in the form of crosstab analysis and word cloud analysis. The result shows that; first, BPBD Bantul Regency has successfully informed a knowledge about crisis during emergency situation through narration, proven by the highest intensity of the education regarding COVID that takes up to 86% compared to public reputation with only 13%. However, in the dimension of social media, the intensity shows that COVID-19 education is 90% and actor reputation is 10%. BPBD Bantul Regency does not add all narratives, only displays data on Covid-19 cases and provides logistical assistance only; second, the intensity of public involvement measured through the comment feature is dominated by positive sentiment until up to 66% with constructive criticism from the people that support Bantul Regency’s BPBD in overcoming COVID-19, negative view 21% from the people who have not understand about BPBD’s information and or do not believe in the existence of COVID-19, and neutral 11% with the narrations that do not taking any sides. Further, through the retweet feature, positive sentiment is dominating until up to 63% of the public’s constructive criticism towards the data and information provided by BPBD, 27% negative responses that contains the people’s disbelief towards the data and information provided by BPBD was recorded, and some reactions without any tendency of taking sides, neutral, have taken up by 9%. Third, through the word cloud analysis, the dominating word is Bantul with 31 counts, followed by data, covid, regency, PPKM, and so on as the topic discussion.
