Abstract
Petroleum has been an essential commodity in the industry for many years, so its presence is significant, especially for the US, consuming more oil than ever. The US dependence on oilproducing countries, especially Saudi Arabia, finally experienced a shortage of oil supplies that disrupted the US economy. Reflecting on this phenomenon, the US orientation immediately shifted to energy independence. The US ambition to become an oil-exporting country under President ObamaTrump is an exciting topic to study, considering that the US consistency in getting the title of 'largest oil producer' is further based on the strategic interests of the US as a superpower. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. The author uses the concept of Energy Security to describe the success of Obama and Trump in creating US energy independence because US imports continue to decline and find new markets for exporters. Realism theory explains how President Obama and Trump's strategy makes oil the main instrument that brings the US to hegemonic power in international relations. Ultimately the US energy windfall succeeded in getting the US to emerge as the world's largest oil exporter
