Abstract
Children interest is a source of motivation that encourage them doing what they want. Interest may affect the behavior and attitude in a daily life. Children interest wasn't improve optimally yet, it still can easily influenced by other persuasion. Irene's Donut is a dental health education software that has caries stimulator which can be operated individually with parents. Conventional counseling public dissemination is using verbal and model that has can be done individually. The purpose of this study is to know the difference of children interest to change their behavior towards oral health after the public dissemination using Irene s Donut and conventional counseling.
Design of this study is quasi experimental. Subject of the study is 15 primary school students aged 7-8 years old in SD Muhammadiyah Suronatan and SD N Lempuyangwangi. Students have been given a pretest at three days before the conventional counseling thas has presented to SD Muhammadiyah Suronatan and Irene s Donut for SD N Lempuyangwangi. Post test 1 has given to students immediately after the public dissemination and post test 2 after two weeks. Data were analyzed using statistic test Paired t test and Independent sample t test.
Statistic test using paired t test indicate the difference (p<0.05) at the interest before and after the public dissemination in each groups. Independent sample t test has shown the difference (p<0.05) between Irene's Donut with conventional counseling toward student interest.
