Abstract
Learning tools are a tool to assist learners in EFL writing to become effective and efficient. This research aims to investigate the learning tools utilized by senior high school students for their EFL writing, their reasons for choosing the tools, and the ways the learning tools facilitate their EFL writing. This research applied qualitative method with descriptive qualitative design. The research was conducted at one of the private senior high schools in Yogyakarta and involved six students as the research participants. To collect the data, standardized open-ended interview was conducted. As a result, the first finding showed the learning tools used by senior high school students for writing and their reasons for choosing said tools. The tools are word processor, translation machine, grammar checker, and social media. Additionally, the second finding showed how the learning tools facilitate senior high school students in writing, namely: 1) Word processors - Autocorrect tool; 2) Translating machine - Translating tool; 3) Grammar checker - Grammar correction tool; and 4) Social media - Content sharing tool.
