Abstract

Serengeti National Park is considered as one of the most famous and significant wildlife reserves in the world where natural beauty and unparalleled scientific value come together, is experiencing a decline in the quality of habitation year after year. The Mara River, which is the source of habitat for the Serengeti, is starting to dry up due to climate change. The international community authorized the International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources (IUCN) to develop ideas about conservation efforts. The organization demonstrates how biodiversity is fundamental to tackling some of the world's biggest challenges in tackling climate change, achieving sustainable energy, improving human wellbeing, and building a green economy. The author wants to examine the issue of the role of IUCN in protecting the Serengeti National Park as one of the protected areas in Africa. In this study, the author uses a qualitative approach, where the author using the facts provided, create a detailed account of an incident. On the other hand, the secondary data is used in this research that involves using existing data. Our results confirm that IUCN has not been maximal in solving problems in the Serengeti, although various actions have been taken, there are several other problems that are still in progress.
