Abstract
Concrete has been further developed through various studies, using oil palm shells (OPS) waste as a form of innovation. The use of oil palm shells aims to reduce the amount of waste in palm oil production, make environmentally friendly concrete and makes concrete have maximum flexural value. The proportion of OPS used is 10%, the optimal value as a substitute for coarse aggregate. The specimens used a beam with dimensions of 10 cm x 10 cm x 50 cm, and the total number of the concrete specimen was 20 samples. In this study, the w/c ratio difference value was 0,37 and 0,48 and the additive for mask fibers at 0% and 0,2%, with 0,25% superplasticizers. In this study, several curing methods were used to determine the effective method and compare the bending strength values for each processing method compare each curing method. Five concrete curing methods were carried out, i.e, immerse the specimen with plain water, lay the specimen at room temperature, wrap the specimen with wet burlap bags, immerse the concrete with lime water, and immersing the concrete with saltwater. The specimens will be tested for flexural strength at the concrete age of 28 days. Based on the tests' results, the highest flexural strength value is 2,45 MPa in the curing method of immersion with plain water with a value of w/c ratio 0,37. The highest density value is 2480 kg/m3 with the flexural strength of 2,14 MPa at 0,48 w/c ratio and with 0% mask fibers.
