Abstract
Acne is a disease that is easily found in Indonesia which is one of the causes due to Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. Treatment of acne using improper antibiotics can cause resistance. According to the Indonesian Ministry of Health in 2021, cases of resistance due to the use of antimicrobials such as inappropriate types of antibiotics reached 700 thousand people per year. This study is expected to find out the effect of this type of binder on the physical properties of antiacne mask powder preparations from binahong extract and find out the optimal formula of binahong leaf extract antiacne mask preparations that are most effective against Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. The method used in this study used laboratoric experimental design. In this study, the formulation of binahong leaf extract antiacne mask with 3 types of binder variations (HPMC, CMC, carbopol) was then carried out a test of the physical properties of antiacne masks in the form of organoleptic tests, granule uniformity tests, flow time and rest angles tests, humidity tests and pH tests. As well as testing antibacterial activity on Staphylococcus aureus bacteria using disc diffusion methods and analysis of the influence of both. The results showed that the three binders, namely HPMC, Na CMC and Karbopol, had no effect on the physical properties of the binahong leaf extract antiacne mask preparation. The results of the antibacterial activity test were obtained 2.26±0.20 mm (HPMC); 1.20±0.26 mm (CMC); 2.43±0.45 mm (carbs). Positive control showed an average diameter of 16±0 mm (tetracycline) and negative control of 0±0 mm (sterile aquadest). Analyze data with the One-Way ANOVA method for normal distributed data and kruskal-wallis test for normal undistributed data. The study showed that all three types of fastening variation had no effect on physical testing of antiacne mask preparations. Antibacterial test results showed that the F3 formula with carbopol fasteners had the most optimal inhibitory power of 2.43 mm.
