Abstract
The Dental Learning Center (DLC) building is a building that is used as supporting facilities and infrastructure for all academic activities for students and members of the Faculty of Medicine at Gajah Mada University. In order to meet the needs of electricity distribution in the building, an electrical installation design is carried out. To meet the standards of comfort, security, and tranquility for building users, it is necessary to design effectively in accordance with the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) and general requirements for electrical installations (PUIL) 2011. The design of electrical installations aims to determine the total number of installed loads, capacitor banks used required, and the capacity of the transformer and generator used. After calculating the total power requirement, the calculation results obtained that the total installed active power is 718 kW and the apparent power is 898 kVA with an initial power factor of 0.79. In an effort to improve the power factor to 0.9, the capacitor bank needed is 191.5 kVAR so that the total power after repair is 797.8 kVA. Based on the calculation of the total load after power factor improvement, the required transformer capacity is 1000kVA but installed is 1600kVA, while the required generator capacity is 1000 kVA but 100 kVA is installed. This is done for various reasons and certain considerations between building owners and planners.
