Abstract
Indonesia has various natural resources, including abundant water resources. However, these water resources have not been fully utilized by the local community. Micro Hydro Power Plant (PLTMH) Portable is a renewable power plant, PLTMH utilizes flowing water energy that comes from river flows. This study aims to determine the real working principle of a portable Micro Hydro power plant and also to find out and then analyze the characteristics of a portable Micro Hydro by observing turbine rotation, generator rotation, output voltage, and electric current when loading. The river flow will rotate the waterwheel at the PLTMH. The waterwheel will rotate the generator shaft, the rotational energy will be converted into mechanical energy which will produce electrical energy which will then be stored in the battery. Electrical energy can be used for household electricity needs such as lights and fans, distribution of electrical energy from the generator is connected to the SCC from the SCC channeled to the battery and inverter. An inverter is needed to convert DC current to AC. The output voltage and electric current are affected by the rotation of the generator, the smaller the rotation of the generator the output voltage will be small and when the rotation is slow the output voltage will decrease. The average value of the output voltage from the generator is 7.429 V, SCC to the battery is 12.29 V, SCC to the inverter is 12.196 V, and the inverter is to a 250 V outlet and the current output from the generator is 0.096 A on average, SCC to the battery is 0.01 A, SCC to 1.445 A inverter, inverter to lamp load outlet 0.02 A, and inverter to lamp load outlet 0.2 A. The power generated from the generator is P = V x I = 7.429 x 0.096 = 0.713 Watt.
