Abstract

Yogyakarta city is one of the cities in Indonesia that experiences an increase in the number of residents every year. With its tourist attraction and its role as an educational city, many migrants, especially students from outside the area, move and live in Yogyakarta City every year. This condition affects the amount of traffic volume that increases and causes congestion at the intersection, one of the intersections that has this problem is the four-sided Jogokaryan interchange. The condition of the interchange arm that is not symmetrical results in the length of the vehicle queue during rush hour. The purpose of this study is to analyze the performance of Jogokaryan four-sided intersections in existing conditions and conditions within the next 5 years using MKJI 1997, and provide alternative handling that can improve the performance of deviations to be more optimal. The results of the study showed that the highest volume of traffic flow occurred on weekdays at 16.00 – 17.00 by 1880 smp/hour. The performance of existing condition deviations obtained an average delay value of 42.46 seconds/smp in the category LOS E. Forecast in the next 5 years the average delay of deviation of 49.28 seconds/smp in the category LOS E. Alternative 1 is carried out a redesign of the cycle time obtained an average delay value of 37.91 seconds/smp in the LOS D category. Alternative 2 is planned with an effective width change and cycle time for all arms, obtained an average delay value of 37.02 seconds/smp in the LOS D category. In alternative 3 is planned by applying a left turn of the continuous road / LTOR on the east arm so that the average delay value of the deviation becomes 36.78 seconds/smp in the LOS D category. While in alternative 4, a change in the phase of deviation with a combination of alternative 2 and the design of cycle time, an average deviation delay of 31.99 seconds/smp was obtained in the LOS D category. Based on 4 alternative handling scenarios, the 4th alternative is recommended as a handling step because it has the lowest average deviation delay.
